Editing Time!

Image
Hey guys!!!! I am SO glad to tell you that we're finally completed with our opening sequence. After so much work, it finally paid off.      For the editing situation, we stuck to our music video strategy. I think this went well. Charlize went to Valentina's house to edit the video and I stayed on FaceTime. But before all of this, we called and made a gamelan. We swiped through all our clips and decided what we wanted to keep, and what we wanted to scratch.       Then, the girls put them into the software. Valentina let me know there was a bit of trouble with this. The files were apparently too big to email, we she had to create a whole new google account to backup the videos on Google photos. Onto of all this, getting the videos on Movavi was another ordeal. Although tedious, it got done. Then, Charlize did her VoiceOver using Valentina's mic. This went well, and got done pretty quickly.       Once the Voiceover was added to the video, the girls started editing and lik

Wait... We're done?!

Hey guys! I have some great news. We finally, finally finished filming all our scenes! By no shock, there were a couple issues, but aren't there always.      So, what's gone down since I last updated you? We really just had to finalize the ending, the cafe scene.  Instead of filming at a cafe, which was not allowed, we took a drive over to my church, which I am a member of and we got permission to film in the lobby area. We tried to make it look like a cafe as much as possible. I had the idea to bring a plain apron and a rag. This way, it looks like I work in the cafe. Charlize brought her laptop and notebooks to make it seem like she was working.       So, we got to the cafe a tad early to make sure there weren't so many people and we got started. I was filmed walking into the cafe and "preparing" for my shift. Then Valentina filmed me from an over-the-shoulder shot wiping down tables as Charlize walked into the cafe. Then, business as usual. I did my job  a

Hi guys!  I hope all is well on your end. I'm here to tell you more about my group's filming journey.      So, on February 13th, Valentina, Charlize, and I met up to refilm our dog scene. I say "re" film because the first time around, my group mates thought it didn't look good. Trial and error, am I right?       I think what went better this time around was less shakiness of the camera. As well as better angles and overall professionalism of the scene. Before it appeared more rushed and amateur. We didn't have time to go to a cafe for the final scene, but we did discuss as a group a few locations we were going to visit and inquire about their filming policy.      We also had a discussion about potential music to use for our film! As I said before, Charlize is our main editor. Meaning she has a lot to do with what music works and looks best with the scenes. Despite this, I still want to give my own input as I have some ideas about what could work! I told my gr

Music to my ears!

Hi guys! What's up? I am back to tell you about what music my group has decided to use for our video. Do you remember my idea? That we could either do minimal music, with it only playing towards the end when the real action happens, and the two girls meet. Or, we could have suspenseful music throughout the film, with the music finally coming to a halt once the girls shake hands and officially meet to provide a shock factor and show that this is the climax of the story.      After discussing with Valentina and Charlize, we wanted to meet somewhere in the middle. And we tried! We had the idea of beginning with chill, upbeat music, then fading into. darker more mysterious tune. I loved this plan personally, so I got to researching it. Unfortunately, however, I couldn't find anything online that resembled that! Neither could my groupmates. So, we scrapped that plan.     Once I couldn't find anything, Valentina stepped up and said she could find another fit. She found some

Filming Blog: Going deeper

Hi guys! It's nice to talk again and be able to update you on our progress.       If you don't remember, our last filming day got cut short so we didn't get very much done. But all is well because on February 10th our group continued the filming process!  Once again, we are "behind schedule" but no one's perfect, and sometimes life gets in the way! On the 10th, me and Charlize got dropped off at Valentina's house and we got started.       First, I acted out and was filmed doing the rest of Madeline's morning routine of getting out of bed, brushing my teeth, opening the blinds, and more. These beginning scenes felt very easy to film and it was rather relaxing for me! Then we moved on to filming me in the kitchen getting my coffee ready and preparing to take my dog out on a stroll.        As a group, Charlize, Valentina, and I walked to a park near her home and began shooting me interacting with the dog. As they filmed I walked him, ran with him, and wa

Filming blog: Day one!

Hey guys!! How is everything? We haven't talked in forever.       Now that we are on to our final task, I wanted to update you on how everything is going with our filming process. On February 5th, we filmed our first takes. This date is a little behind schedule, but this is because we had to modify it due to sports and other extracurriculars that got in the way!       At first, the task seemed a bit daunting to me as I am the "actress". But once I was with my friends, things became relaxed and fun! Me and Charlize were picked up by Valentina then we headed to her house to start filming.       Unfortunately, our time got cut short because I had a soccer game to get to, but we did get some stuff completed. We filmed the start of Madeline's morning routine. Filming was a fun process for me, there were even times when I couldn't stop laughing during the scenes! I was careful to look as much like the storyboard as possible with my positioning. My favorite part of

Cafe Comps

Hi guys!!  Unfortunately, I don't have the BEST news for you. We have fun into a couple complications...      Remember our plan on filming in a cafe and me pretending to work there? Well, turns out not all cafes are very keen on that idea. Me and my group went down to a cafe near us, Press and Grind. We asked them if it was possible to film behind their counter for a quick scene. Unfortunately, they said no. We think it could be due to "health violations" or something like that.       Don't worry though, we have a plan! We plan on either scrapping that idea and replacing it with another kind of scene, or slightly changing it. But how?      I'm thinking of possibly changing the fact that I'm supposed to be behind the counter to me just wiping down a table. To make me look like I do in fact work there, I could always buy an apron online and bring a rag with me. Hopefully, the cafe we try next won't mind if we film there as long as we aren't in the design

Sooo what are we all doing?

Hi guys!!! Before I go further with updating you all on our filming progress I wanted to tell you about our roles. So, who will be doing what in our group? Me Charlize and Valentina all had a talk today about this. This means, who will do the voiceover, filming, and editing. We lack a team leader because we all share responsibilities and important decision-making, so we made these choices as a group. Our last big group project, the music video, had some rocky parts to it. Concerning the process of communicating as a group. We had some issues with who would do what and a lack of time management, so we needed to take this communication seriously this time, so that didn't happen again. To kick it off, we chose the actors. First I suggested Valentina, but she wasn't too keen on it. Instead, me and Charlize are the actresses. Charlize will be doing the voice-over, as she has a specific plan for how she wants it to go. This makes sense considering she made the script.  For most o
